Actress Ali Larter has candidly shared that her most difficult moments filming Landman are not action sequences or long shooting days, but rather the bikini scenes required by her character. In a recent interview with PEOPLE, the Legally Blonde alum explained why those moments remain her least favorite.
In Landman, Larter portrays Angela Norris, wife of Tommy Norris. Angela is depicted as a glamorous, physical character who embraces spray tans, blonde hair, and body-skimming outfits. While Larter has embodied Angela’s confidence on screen, she admitted that stepping into bikinis for the role is far from easy.
“I don’t think there’s an actress alive that’s like, ‘Woo! Got a bikini scene!’ Nobody wants to do it,” Larter said. “Those are the hardest for me. I don’t enjoy them. It’s just part of the story that I’m telling, and I’m an actress, so I get on board. But those are definitely my least favorite.”
The actress acknowledged that preparing for Angela’s look requires significant effort, from maintaining fitness to embracing the character’s aesthetic. Yet, she admitted the real challenge lies in overcoming her own insecurities.
“No matter what, it’s like, I’ve got to spend all this time fighting off my own anxiety to be able to put on that bikini and walk into these scenes,” she explained.
Angela’s daughter, Ainsley Norris, also frequently appears in bikinis throughout the series, further emphasizing the show’s focus on physical presentation.
Despite the challenges, Larter shared that her most cherished scenes in Landman are not the glamorous ones. In a previous interview, she revealed her favorites are the quieter, emotional exchanges between Angela and Tommy, which allow her to explore the character’s depth beyond appearance.
“My favorite is when I get to have a real, honest quiet exchange between Tommy and Angela. I just love that,” she said.
As Landman continues to unfold, Larter’s portrayal of Angela highlights the tension between external glamour and internal vulnerability. Her openness about the challenges of bikini scenes adds a layer of authenticity to her performance, reminding audiences that even seasoned actors grapple with insecurities behind the camera.
