Apple is preparing to expand its entry-level lineup in early 2026, with new models across the iPhone, iPad, and Mac categories. The most notable addition is an all-new affordable MacBook, marking a major shift in Apple’s product strategy.
According to a research report by Jeff Pu of GF Securities, Apple will introduce a low-cost MacBook powered by the A18 Pro chip from the iPhone 16 Pro. The device is expected to feature a 13-inch display and come in silver, blue, pink, and yellow color options, similar to the iPad.
To achieve a lower price point — likely between $699 and $899 — Apple may use older design elements, limited display components, 8GB of memory, and possibly just a single USB-C port.
Apple is also planning to release the iPhone 17e, the second iteration of its budget-friendly “e” line. Pu believes the device will include an A19 chip, an 18-megapixel Center Stage camera, and Apple’s C1 modem.
Most specifications will remain unchanged from the iPhone 16e, though rumors suggest the iPhone 17e could adopt the Dynamic Island design, replacing the notch at the top of the display.
The 12th-generation iPad is expected to retain its current design but gain an A18 chip. This upgrade will allow the entry-level iPad to support Apple Intelligence for the first time, enhancing its AI-driven features.
Pu’s report aligns with other industry predictions that Apple will pursue a split-launch cycle for iPhones. The iPhone 18 Pro models and Apple’s first foldable iPhone are expected in the second half of 2026. Meanwhile, the regular iPhone 18, iPhone 18e, and iPhone Air 2 will arrive in the first half of 2027.
The iPhone Air 2 was initially planned to launch alongside the iPhone 18 Pro, but weak sales of the first-generation model have delayed its release. Apple is reportedly redesigning the device, possibly adding dual rear cameras.
Pu also noted that Apple will likely remain unaffected by rising DDR memory prices through 2026, thanks to its strong procurement capabilities.
With a low-cost MacBook, refreshed iPhone 17e, and upgraded iPad, Apple is positioning itself to capture a broader audience while maintaining premium features across its lineup.
