Audrey Hepburn’s legacy continues to inspire new generations, and her son Sean Hepburn Ferrer has weighed in on Lily Collins being cast in a biopic about the legendary actress. In an interview with Fox News Digital published on March 8, Ferrer, 65, shared his thoughts on the upcoming project based on Sam Wasson’s book Fifth Avenue, 5 A.M.: Audrey Hepburn, Breakfast at Tiffany’s and the Dawn of the Modern Woman.
“I love Lily Collins,” Ferrer said. “Sam Wasson, the book’s writer, is a good friend of mine and I’m very happy for him. I don’t have any huge thoughts on the film as it hasn’t been made yet.”
He added that his mother might have been modest about the book’s subtitle: “I believe that my mother might cringe at ‘Dawn of the Modern Woman,’ but she cringed at any compliment.”
Collins, 36, announced the casting on Instagram on February 23. “It’s with almost 10 years of development and a lifetime of admiration and adoration for Audrey that I’m finally able to share this,” she wrote. “Honored and ecstatic don’t begin to express how I feel…”
The biopic will focus on Hepburn’s life during the filming of Breakfast at Tiffany’s in 1961, a role that cemented her as a cultural icon.
Ferrer also noted that another film, Dinner With Audrey, is in development. Announced in November 2025, the project stars Thomasin McKenzie as Hepburn and Ansel Elgort as designer Hubert de Givenchy. The film will explore their four-decade friendship, centering on “one magical, fashion-filled night in Paris.”
Audrey Hepburn, remembered for classics like Roman Holiday and My Fair Lady, died in 1993 at age 63 from a rare form of appendix cancer. She left behind two sons: Sean, with her first husband Mel Ferrer, and Luca Dotti, with her second husband Andrea Dotti.
