As anticipation builds for Avengers: Doomsday, new reports are shedding light on one of the film’s most intriguing storylines: why the X-Men fight the Avengers. According to industry scooper My Time to Shine Hello, the clash stems from the X-Men’s fear of outsiders after enduring repeated Incursions—catastrophic multiversal events that threaten entire realities.
When the Avengers and Fantastic Four arrive in their universe offering help, the mutants reportedly assume their world is about to be destroyed, sparking a battle rooted in survival and mistrust.
Another major rumor ties Steve Rogers into the narrative. Following the events of Avengers: Endgame and before the conclusion of Loki Season 2, Loki is said to have relocated Steve and his family to a safe universe—later revealed to be the Fantastic Four’s reality.
There, they live peacefully until Doctor Doom warns Reed Richards about looming Incursions. Richards and Doom then seek out Steve, urging him to return to the MCU to rally heroes against the crisis.
This storyline reportedly bridges the original MCU heroes with incoming legacy characters, setting the stage for a massive alliance across multiple factions. According to The Cosmic Circus’ Alex Perez, the X-Men universe depicted will be a variant—one that has evolved into a “utopia for humans and mutants,” echoing themes from the Fox-era films.
Perez added that the film’s central motif asks: “What would you be willing to sacrifice to gain what you want? To succeed? To save the ones you love?”
Directed by The Russo Brothers, Avengers: Doomsday is positioned as one of Marvel’s most ambitious projects yet. The film is scheduled to hit theaters on December 18, 2026, promising a multiversal showdown that unites—and divides—Marvel’s most iconic teams.
With rumors swirling and the official release still months away, fans are eagerly awaiting confirmation of these plot details. Marvel Studios has yet to comment, but the speculation underscores the high stakes of Avengers: Doomsday, which could redefine the MCU’s future.
