Barry Manilow has postponed another round of concerts as he continues to recover from cancer-related surgery.
The 82-year-old singer revealed his lung cancer diagnosis in December, saying it was “found early.” He underwent surgery to remove a spot on his left lung, forcing him to delay his Las Vegas residency and several tour dates. Earlier this month, Manilow announced he would need to reschedule performances again. In a recent social media post, he shared that his surgeon advised against returning to the stage just yet.
Despite training on the treadmill “three times a day” to prepare for his arena tour, Manilow’s doctor told him his lungs were not ready for a 90-minute show. “Deep down, I wanted to go back. But my body knew what my heart didn’t want to admit: I wasn’t ready,” Manilow wrote. He confirmed that concerts scheduled between February 27 and March 17 will be rescheduled. His surgeon believes he may be able to resume his Las Vegas shows at the end of March and begin arena performances in April.
The postponed shows are part of Manilow’s farewell tour, billed as The Last Concerts. He reassured fans that he will return to the stage once he has healed. “The doctor said that my body had been through hell and that it needed time to heal. So, I’m going back to healing,” he said.
Manilow’s career spans more than six decades, with over 30 studio albums and timeless hits including “Copacabana,” “Mandy,” “Can’t Smile Without You,” and “Could It Be Magic.” His music has earned him Grammy Awards and a devoted global fan base. While fans will have to wait a little longer to see him live, Manilow’s message was clear: he will be back.
