Billy Bob Thornton is setting the record straight on swirling rumors about his future with Landman. The Oscar-winning actor, who plays Tommy Norris in the Paramount+ drama, dismissed speculation that he was leaving the series. He also shut down chatter about a supposed romance with Demi Moore, calling both stories “AI-generated crap.”
In a conversation with USA Today, Thornton clarified that he isn’t going anywhere. “There’s an AI report that Demi and I are a couple now, and there’s one that I’m leaving the show. They have nothing to do with reality,” he said. The actor emphasized that he will be present when filming begins for Season 3, reassuring fans who feared his departure.
Thornton has previously expressed enthusiasm about continuing as Tommy Norris for several more seasons. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, he joked that if the show runs long enough, he might end up playing a grandfatherly version of the character. “Next thing you see, Jacob [Lofland, who plays son Cooper] will be pushing me in the wheelchair out of the nursing home,” he quipped.
Season 2 of Landman concluded on January 18, 2026. Paramount+ has already renewed the series for a third season, though an official release date has not yet been announced. Based on past release patterns, fans can expect Season 3 to arrive in late 2026 or early 2027. Thornton hinted that the upcoming season could blend elements of the first two installments. “Season three may be a combo of seasons one and two. Where maybe the danger will come back, but those relationships will still be at the forefront. And that’s just a guess,” he said.
With Thornton’s confirmation, viewers can rest assured that Tommy Norris will remain central to Landman. The actor’s dismissal of AI-generated rumors highlights the growing challenge of misinformation in entertainment news. For now, fans can look forward to seeing Thornton reprise his role when production kicks off for Season 3.
