Treyarch Finally Fixes Black Ops 7 Battle Pass Grind — Faster Rewards Coming in Season 1

Treyarch is officially easing one of Call of Duty’s longest-running frustrations: the Battle Pass grind. With the launch of Black Ops 7 Season 1, the studio is rolling out major changes aimed at making progression faster, fairer and far more rewarding.

For years, players have criticized CoD’s Battle Pass system for requiring excessive playtime, slow XP gain, and an exhausting climb toward late-tier rewards. Now, Treyarch says it is redesigning the entire structure to help players unlock premium content sooner — without sinking dozens of hours into repetitive gameplay.

A Faster, More Rewarding Battle Pass

Beginning with Season 1 of Black Ops 7 and Warzone, players will notice a streamlined rewards track from the very first page.

Treyarch says earlier sections of the Battle Pass will now require fewer tiers to reach High Value Targets (HVTs), allowing players to claim headline rewards much sooner. Later pages will still feature more tiers, but each will contain meaningful content, rather than filler items that previously stretched out progression.

Across all 100 tiers, the goal is to deliver high-value items earlier and more consistently — a change long requested by the community.

New Ways to Earn Battle Pass Tokens

Season 1 will also expand how players earn Battle Pass Tokens, making nearly every mode count.

Players can now earn tokens by completing Daily Challenges in:

• Multiplayer

• Zombies

• Warzone

• Black Ops 7 Co-Op Campaign

• Endgame missions

Certain days during the season will also offer bonus tokens for completing extra challenges. Tokens can be redeemed immediately, giving players more control over how they move through the Battle Pass.

The overhaul makes progression feel connected to gameplay instead of feeling like a separate grind layered on top of it.

Season 1 Will Feature One of the Biggest Battle Passes Yet

Treyarch calls this the “biggest Black Ops Season yet,” and the numbers back that up. The Season 1 Battle Pass includes:

• 1,100 COD Points

• 11 Operator Skins

• 26 Blueprints & Weapons

• 119 total rewards

Most cosmetics follow a grounded Cold War–era aesthetic, in line with Black Ops 7’s tone.

One important caveat: Season 1 items will not carry over to the next premium Call of Duty release. However, everything unlocked in Black Ops 7 will continue to be usable in Warzone.

A Long-Awaited Step Forward for Players

The update marks a major shift in how Treyarch approaches Battle Pass progression — and early reactions from players have been positive. Many hope this signals a more player-friendly approach in future seasons as well.

With Season 1 set to drop alongside new maps, modes, and weapons, the reward grind finally looks like it’s moving in the right direction.
