The music world is mourning the loss of Brad Arnold, lead singer and co-founder of 3 Doors Down, who passed away on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at the age of 47.
The band confirmed Arnold’s death in a heartfelt Instagram post, writing: “With heavy hearts, we share the news that Brad Arnold, founder, lead singer, and songwriter of 3 Doors Down, passed away peacefully in his sleep after his courageous battle with cancer.” His wife Jennifer and family were by his side.
Arnold revealed less than a year ago that he had been diagnosed with stage 4 clear cell renal carcinoma (kidney cancer). Despite the illness, he remained active in music and connected with fans until his final months.
Arnold helped shape mainstream rock in the late 1990s and 2000s, blending post-grunge sounds with emotionally direct lyrics. His breakout hit “Kryptonite”—written when he was just 15—catapulted 3 Doors Down to fame in 2000. The band went on to release chart-topping singles like “Here Without You” and “When I’m Gone.”
3 Doors Down, founded in 1996, became one of the most recognizable rock acts of its era, selling millions of albums worldwide and earning a loyal fan base.
