New York Jets running back Breece Hall has reportedly requested a trade following the team’s deadline-day moves that sent Sauce Gardner and Quinnen Williams to AFC contenders. According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, Hall “wants to be out” of New York amid the franchise’s shift toward a rebuild. The Jets are asking for a third-round pick in exchange for Hall, whose rookie contract expires at the end of the 2025 season. With the team sitting at 1–7, owner Woody Johnson appears committed to reshaping the roster.
On November 4, 2025, Breece Hall expressed his desire to leave the New York Jets, per reports from Jordan Schultz and Albert Breer. The request came hours after the Jets traded Sauce Gardner to the Colts and Quinnen Williams to the Cowboys. Hall’s trade interest was reportedly sparked by the team’s decision to part with its defensive stars, signaling a rebuild. The Jets are seeking a third-round pick for the 24-year-old running back, who was drafted No. 36 overall in 2022.
Hall has been the Jets’ lead back since entering the league and remains one of the top-performing running backs this season.
Jordan Schultz reported Hall’s trade request shortly after the Gardner and Williams deals were finalized. Albert Breer added that the Jets are open to moving Hall for a third-round pick. ESPN’s Rich Cimini noted that while head coach Aaron Glenn previously stated Hall wasn’t on the trade block, the team’s recent moves suggest a shift in direction. Hall has also posted cryptic messages on social media, hinting at frustration with the organization.
Trading Hall would mark the third major departure for the Jets in a single day. His exit would leave a significant gap in the backfield, forcing the team to rely on younger, less proven options. For Hall, a move could provide a fresh start with a playoff contender. The Jets’ offensive production may suffer in the short term, but the draft capital gained could aid long-term rebuilding efforts.
The NFL trade deadline closes at 4 PM ET on November 5. If a deal is reached, Hall could be moved before the cutoff. Teams in need of backfield depth are expected to monitor the situation closely. If no trade materializes, Hall will finish the season in New York and enter free agency in March 2026.
