Brigitte Bardot Hospitalized Again After ‘Serious Illness’ Just Weeks After Surgery

French film legend Brigitte Bardot has been hospitalized again, just weeks after recovering from a previous medical emergency. According to Nice Matin, the 91-year-old actress was rushed back to Saint-Jean Hospital in Toulon ten days ago and remains under medical supervision.

Bardot was previously hospitalized in October for what was described as a “serious illness,” requiring surgery and a two-week stay. Doctors at the time reportedly considered her condition “worrying,” even as she prepared for discharge.

Rumors and Health Concerns Continue to Circulate

Following her October release, false reports of Bardot’s death spread rapidly on social media. An influencer’s now-deleted post claimed her coffin had been ordered and announced her passing — prompting Bardot to issue a rare public denial.

On X (formerly Twitter), she wrote:
“I don’t know which fool launched this fake news about my disappearance, but know that I’m doing well and have no intention of taking my leave.”

Her message, translated from French, served as a firm dismissal of the rumor and reassurance to fans.

A Career That Defined an Era

Bardot is widely regarded as one of France’s most enduring cinematic icons. Rising to international fame in the 1950s and 1960s with films like “And God Created Woman,” she became one of Europe’s biggest sex symbols and a global pop-culture figure.

In 1973, she retired from acting and shifted her focus entirely to animal activism. Through the Brigitte Bardot Foundation, she has spent decades advocating for animal welfare both in France and around the world.

Her commitment to activism has remained steadfast, even as her public appearances have decreased in recent years.

Ongoing Monitoring at Toulon Hospital

While details of Bardot’s current illness have not been disclosed, French media reports indicate that she is receiving continued treatment at the same hospital that managed her condition last month.

No official statement has been released by Bardot’s representatives or family, and the hospital has not commented on her status.

Supporters across France have taken to social media to send well-wishes to the actress turned activist, whose cultural impact spans more than six decades.
