According to Railways’ official website, passengers cannot cancel paperless tickets under any circumstances. However, paper tickets can be cancelled under certain conditions.
There are two rules for cancelling paper tickets:
1. Unprinted Tickets: If you booked a ticket through the mobile app but didn’t print it from the kiosk machine at the station, you can cancel it directly from the app.
2. Printed Tickets: If you printed the ticket from the kiosk machine at the station, you can cancel it by visiting the UTS counter within one hour.
In both cases, you won’t receive a cash refund. Instead, after deducting a fixed charge, the remaining amount will be added to your UTS wallet as a top-up or deposited into your bank account.
If you have a paper ticket that you haven’t printed, follow these steps to cancel it:
1. Open the UTS mobile app.
2. Go to the “Book Tickets” section.
3. Select the ticket you want to cancel.
4. Choose the “Cancel Ticket” option.
5. Confirm the cancellation.
