Chilli and Matthew Lawrence have taken their relationship into the professional spotlight, co-hosting Hallmark+’s new reality series Second Chance Love. The project marks the first time the pair, who began dating in 2022, have worked together on-screen.
Premiering January 1, Second Chance Love brings five former couples to Sardinia, Italy, where they revisit their past relationships. Ranging in age from their 30s to their 70s, the participants dated anywhere from five to 40 years ago. Over two weeks, they embark on emotional journeys filled with nostalgia, reflection, and intimate dates, confronting unfinished business and exploring whether love can be rekindled.
Lawrence admitted he had no doubts about teaming up with Chilli professionally. “There’s nothing but love and respect, so I was not worried at all,” he said. Chilli echoed the sentiment, noting that their collaboration felt effortless: “It’s funny that we can work together and everything just flows naturally.”
The couple emphasized that the project’s wholesome tone was key to their involvement. “We didn’t want to be part of something salacious,” Lawrence explained. “We wanted something feel-good that the whole family could watch.”
Beyond hosting duties, Chilli and Lawrence said they learned valuable lessons from the couples featured. “Not one couple is the same, but what they have in common is this past they want closure on,” Chilli shared. Lawrence added that revisiting old relationships can help people decide whether to move forward or let go.
The experience has given the duo confidence to pursue more projects together. “We seem to be able to do that with ease,” Chilli said. The couple, who became Instagram official in late 2022, continue to balance their personal and professional lives, supporting each other both on and off screen.
With Second Chance Love now streaming on Hallmark+, Chilli and Lawrence are open to future collaborations. For viewers, the series offers heartfelt stories of reconnection while showcasing the couple’s chemistry as co-hosts.
