President Trump drew attention during the Medal of Honor Ceremony in the East Room of the White House when photographs revealed a red, inflamed patch on the right side of his neck. The rash extended just above his shirt collar and stopped beneath his ear.
In a statement to CNN, Trump’s personal physician Dr. Sean Barbabella explained that the irritation was the result of a preventive skin treatment cream.
“President Trump is using a very common cream on the right side of his neck,” Barbabella said. “It is a preventative skin treatment. The President has been using the treatment for one week, and the redness is expected to last for a few weeks.”
While Barbabella confirmed the cause, he did not specify why Trump required the treatment. The White House has not commented on the matter.
Barbabella has consistently maintained that Trump is in good health, writing in December that the President “remains in excellent overall health.”
Presidential health updates often draw public attention, particularly when visible changes occur during official appearances. Trump’s physician’s reassurance aims to quell speculation, noting the rash is a temporary side effect of a routine treatment.
The redness is expected to fade in the coming weeks as the treatment continues. Unless further complications arise, Trump’s physician has indicated no cause for concern regarding the President’s overall health.
