A major update has emerged for the 7 crore members of the Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO). The government is actively working on introducing a new facility that will allow members to withdraw their Provident Fund (PF) money directly from ATMs. Labor Secretary Sumita Dawra recently announced that significant advancements are underway to enhance EPFO’s IT system, aimed at providing better services to the workforce.

ATM Withdrawals for PF Coming by 2025

Sumita Dawra, Secretary, Ministry of Labor and Employment, confirmed that EPFO members can expect substantial improvements by January 2025. The Ministry is upgrading its IT infrastructure to match the efficiency of banking systems. Dawra stated, “We are streamlining our PF provision systems, eliminating unnecessary processes, and increasing the speed of claims and self-claims. The new IT 2.1 version will allow members to withdraw their PF claims directly through ATMs.”

Advanced Technology for Better EPFO Services

The Labor Secretary highlighted the government’s focus on leveraging advanced technology for EPFO operations. The new system will not only simplify the claims process but also provide enhanced services such as issuing a new card for PF withdrawal. With this card, members can withdraw funds easily through ATMs, although there will be a 50% withdrawal limit on the total deposited amount.

EPFO’s Active Contributors and Commitment to Better Services

EPFO currently has over 7 crore active contributors. The government is committed to improving EPFO services to enhance the quality of life for its members. Dawra mentioned that while plans are in advanced stages, no exact launch date for the new system has been provided yet.

EPFO Withdrawal Rules

Here are the key rules for withdrawing PF funds:

1. During Employment: Partial or full withdrawal of PF funds is not permitted while you are employed.
2. Unemployment for One Month: You can withdraw up to 75% of your PF balance.
3. Unemployment for Two Months: You are eligible to withdraw the entire PF amount.

This initiative, once implemented, will bring greater convenience to EPFO members, making PF withdrawals faster and easier than ever.
