Erika Kirk, widow of conservative media figure Charlie Kirk, shared an emotional Thanksgiving tribute two months after her husband was shot and killed during an event at Utah Valley University. Posting on Instagram on Nov. 27, Erika reflected on grief, gratitude, and keeping Charlie’s memory alive for their two young children.
The video shows Erika sorting through stacks of letters, artwork, toys, and gifts sent to their family since Charlie’s death. In her caption, she wrote that Thanksgiving was one of their most meaningful holidays, symbolizing faith, family, and thankfulness.
“Charlie and I always loved Thanksgiving because it drew us back to the simple, but holy practice of gratitude,” Erika wrote. “Even now, in the depths of the ache, I’m reminded of that gratitude.”
Erika expressed appreciation for the overwhelming support from people around the world and thanked supporters for honoring Charlie’s legacy.
“I can’t express what the outpouring of love has meant to me and the babies,” she shared, referring to the couple’s 3-year-old daughter and 1-year-old son. “I’m reading every letter and card, opening every gift… and saving each one for them when they’re older.”
She ended her message with a symbolic gesture of remembrance:
“We’ll save a plate for you, babe.”
In the accompanying video voiceover, Erika described how she speaks to her children about their father’s death, saying she highlights joy rather than fear or sadness.
“We talk about heaven. I make it really exciting. I tell her, ‘Daddy had so much fun today,’” she said. She also tells her children that Charlie is sending love and gifts from above, ensuring they always feel supported.
Charlie Kirk, a prominent right-wing commentator and founder of Turning Point USA, was killed on Sept. 10. He was shot during an event at Utah Valley University while hosting a stop on his American Comeback Tour. The incident sparked widespread media attention, condolences from supporters, and tributes across conservative circles.
Erika has been vocal about grieving publicly while honoring Charlie’s mission. Just days before Thanksgiving, she revealed during a conversation with Megyn Kelly that she prayed she might have been pregnant at the time of Charlie’s death, sharing that the couple hoped to have four children.
She also posted to Instagram Stories:
“There’s always something to be grateful for. Even when it hurts.”
As the holiday season unfolds, Erika’s message reflects both profound loss and resilience. Supporters continue to share condolences and praise her courage in navigating grief while caring for two young children.
Charlie’s legacy — both personal and public — remains a topic of national conversation, and Erika’s tributes have offered a deeply human perspective within a highly public tragedy.
