General Hospital paid tribute to the late Anthony Geary with a moving episode that honored both the actor and his iconic character, Luke Spencer. Genie Francis, who has played Laura Webber Collins for decades, delivered a heartfelt performance that reminded viewers why Luke and Laura remain one of daytime television’s most legendary couples.
The episode began with Laura reflecting on her life with Luke after a casual remark about her grandson’s dream car triggered memories of their adventures. Without needing a flashback, Francis conveyed Laura’s emotions through subtle expressions, reminding fans of the couple’s Cadillac return to Port Charles in 1993.
Later, Laura chose a church as the place to speak directly to Luke, recalling their fiery love story. “No one would ever accuse us of being boring. We burned too brightly for that,” she said, as flashbacks of their daring escapades played.
Laura’s monologue captured the enduring nature of her bond with Luke. “I see glimpses of you every day of my life,” she confessed. “It feels wrong — even saying it sounds like a lie.” Francis’s delivery underscored the idea that while death ends a life, it does not end a relationship.
She spoke of Luke’s lasting presence, saying, “Luke, you never left me. Not once. I feel your presence when life gets too heavy, and I feel like I can’t go one more step. It’s your voice that I hear, calling me, ‘Angel,’ reminding me of who I am.”
Although Luke was previously written off in 2022, Geary’s passing in December 2025 made this tribute a definitive farewell. Francis’s performance resonated deeply, as she thanked Luke for “the dance, the adventure, and the love of a lifetime.”
Laura later gathered with Lulu, Tracy, Sonny, Carly, and Elizabeth to toast Luke with whiskey at the docks — the same place he said goodbye in 2015. Laura comforted her daughter by saying Luke was not someone you bid farewell to, but rather someone you say “see you later” to.
The episode closed with flashbacks of Luke and Laura’s most iconic moments, including their famous “love on the run” storyline and their 1981 wedding. For longtime fans, the tribute was both nostalgic and cathartic, celebrating Geary’s legacy while giving Laura — and viewers — closure. Genie Francis’s performance reminded audiences why she is affectionately known by fans as “#genieisGH.” Her portrayal of Laura’s grief and love was a masterclass in soap opera storytelling, ensuring Luke Spencer’s memory lives on in Port Charles.
