Ormax Media’s annual audience measurement report has revealed that Special Ops Season 2 was India’s most-watched streaming original in 2025. The JioHotstar espionage drama drew 29.6 million viewers, cementing its place at the top of the charts and highlighting the platform’s strong grip on the Indian streaming market.
JioHotstar secured three of the top 10 positions and four of the top 11. Criminal Justice: A Family Matter ranked second with 27.7 million viewers, while reality juggernaut Bigg Boss (Hindi) Season 19 attracted 20 million. Animated hit The Legend of Hanuman Season 6 and fantasy drama The Secret of the Shiledars also performed strongly, reinforcing JioHotstar’s dominance in originals.
Netflix led the overall chart with 20 entries in the top 50. Its premium slate included The Ba*ds of Bollywood (16.7 million), The Royals (15.5 million), and international juggernauts like Squid Game Season 3 (16.5 million) and Stranger Things Season 5 (16.4 million). Netflix’s film lineup also delivered, with Jewel Thief – The Heist Begins drawing 13.1 million viewers and Dhoom Dhaam attracting 12.1 million.
Amazon Prime Video continued its strong run with The Family Man Season 3 (24.6 million) and Panchayat Season 4 (23.8 million). Paatal Lok Season 2 also pulled in 16.8 million viewers. Meanwhile, Amazon MX Player proved the strength of ad-supported platforms, with Ek Badnaam Aashram Season 3 Part 2 landing at No. 3 with 27.1 million viewers. Reality titles like Rise and Fall and Hip Hop India Season 2 added to its momentum.
SonyLIV entered the top 50 with Maharani Season 4 (10.6 million) and Shark Tank India Season 4 (10.3 million), highlighting the platform’s growing relevance in India’s streaming ecosystem.
The 2025 report marks the final standalone originals ranking from Ormax Media. Beginning in 2026, Ormax StreamView will unify measurement across originals, films, sports, and non-fiction programming, reflecting how audiences increasingly consume content without distinguishing between categories.
With JioHotstar’s dominance in originals, Netflix’s breadth of entries, and Prime Video and MX Player’s strong performances, India’s streaming market remains one of the most competitive globally. As platforms expand into diverse genres and languages, the battle for audience attention is only set to intensify.
