Former Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star Jen Shah has been released after serving nearly three years of a 6.5-year sentence.
Shah pled guilty to conspiracy charges linked to a nationwide telemarketing fraud scheme targeting elderly victims.
Sentence reductions were granted for good behavior, program participation, and restitution efforts.
Shah’s post-release living arrangements remain undisclosed under federal privacy guidelines.
Her family expressed relief and gratitude as they reunite ahead of the holiday season.
Jen Shah, once a prominent figure on The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, has officially been released from federal prison after serving close to three years for orchestrating a large-scale telemarketing fraud scheme. She left the Federal Prison Camp in Bryan, Texas, early on December 10, according to a representative.
Shah had originally been sentenced to six and a half years, drawing national attention for both the scale of the scheme and her role as a reality TV personality.
Shah was arrested in March 2021 and later pled guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud and conspiracy to commit money laundering. Prosecutors alleged she played a key role in a criminal enterprise that defrauded thousands—many of whom were seniors—through deceptive telemarketing operations.
During her January 2023 sentencing, Shah publicly apologized, saying, “My actions have hurt innocent people. I am sorry.”
Her sentence formally began on February 17, 2023.
The Bureau of Prisons confirmed that Shah received multiple sentence reductions based on:
Good behavior
Completion of prison programs
Demonstrated effort toward her $6.5 million restitution obligation
Her projected release date was adjusted several times before landing on December 10—allowing her to return to her family in time for the holidays.
Federal policy prevents officials from disclosing Shah’s immediate post-release plans. She may either return home or transition to a halfway house as she completes the supervised portion of her sentence.
According to her manager, Shah’s release has brought “gratitude and relief” to her family. He added that she has experienced meaningful personal growth while incarcerated and is committed to building a more stable and intentional life.
Throughout her time in prison, Shah remained closely connected to her husband, Sharrieff “Coach” Shah, and their two sons. She previously shared a letter reflecting on the emotional toll of incarceration, the support of her family, and the lessons she learned from fellow inmates.
She described her time behind bars as transformative, reinforcing her desire to pursue a second chance with humility and accountability.
As Shah reenters public life, questions linger about her future—both professionally and personally. While no immediate plans have been revealed, her next chapter will likely focus on restitution, rebuilding trust, and navigating life under federal supervision.
For now, her release marks the beginning of a new phase as she seeks to move beyond the controversy that reshaped her career and public identity.
