Johnny Knoxville Says Jackass 5 Will Be “Absolutely Awful”

Johnny Knoxville has warned fans not to expect greatness from Jackass 5, the upcoming installment in the long-running stunt comedy franchise. Speaking to Rolling Stone, the 54-year-old star admitted the film was intentionally designed to be chaotic and messy.

“A Train Wreck by Design”

Asked what audiences should anticipate, Knoxville quipped, “You hope it doesn’t go well at all! Should be a f**king train wreck. That’s what you should hope for.” He added, “I think we designed it that way.”

Knoxville, whose real name is Philip Clapp, explained that the concept of Jackass was never meant to be polished. “Well, it never was a good idea!” he joked. “It was just fun. You know how you have ideas that are terrible but are fun? This would be that.”

A Legacy of Painful Laughs

The Jackass franchise began in 2000 as an MTV series featuring outrageous stunts and pranks. Its success led to several films: Jackass: The Movie (2002), Jackass Number Two (2006), Jackass 3D (2010), and Jackass Forever (2022). Each installment pushed the boundaries of slapstick comedy and physical endurance.

The End of the Road

Knoxville confirmed that Jackass 5 will be the final entry in the franchise. “This will be the last one,” he said. “This is the natural place to end. So it’s going to be absolutely awful.”

The film will reunite Knoxville with longtime collaborators Steve-O, Chris Pontius, Wee Man, Preston Lacy, and Dave England. Fans can expect the same brand of reckless humor and dangerous stunts that defined the series.

Release Date

Jackass 5 is set to hit theaters on June 26, 2026. While Knoxville insists it will be “awful,” audiences may find that’s exactly what makes it unforgettable.
