Judy Greer Calls The Last Thing He Told Me Season 2 a “13 Going on 30” Reunion

Judy Greer is celebrating her return to television with Season 2 of Apple TV’s The Last Thing He Told Me — and she says it feels like a reunion with her 13 Going on 30 co-star Jennifer Garner.

A Reunion On Set

Greer, 50, told UPI that working with Garner again was “really fun.” She added that the production even reunited crew members from their 2004 romantic comedy, including costume designer Susie De Santo and makeup artist Cindy Williams. “So, there was quite a bit of a reunion going on,” Greer said.

Joining a Hit Series

Greer admitted she was relieved to join a show that already had a strong following. “I felt like I was marrying into a very cool, successful family,” she explained. “They were all very close and just totally opened up the circle to let me in.” She described the cast as compassionate and supportive, noting that the atmosphere felt like being around family.

Greer’s New Character

In Season 2, Greer plays Quinn, the daughter of a gangster and best friend of Bailey’s late mother. Quinn is torn between protecting her family and distancing herself from their criminal ties. “It’s a really hard decision,” Greer said. “You love them so much, but you don’t want to be associated with them.”

Bailey and Hannah’s Evolving Relationship

The series, based on Laura Dave’s novels, follows Bailey (Angourie Rice) and her stepmother Hannah (Garner) as they navigate life after Owen (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) disappears. Rice explained that Bailey and Hannah’s relationship has grown since Season 1. “In Season 2, Hannah really kept working at it and earned Bailey’s trust,” she said. Their bond now resembles a healthy mother-daughter relationship, with conversations focused on problem-solving rather than conflict.

Looking Ahead

Greer said her character Quinn adds new layers to Bailey’s story, offering connections to her biological mother while holding secrets of her own. “She feels like, in a perfect world, she would have a second chance with her best friend by being a part of her daughter’s life,” Greer explained.
