Kanye West made an unannounced appearance during a stand-up comedy show by Deon Cole at the Hollywood Improv on Saturday night (Dec. 27), briefly stepping onstage and confirming that a new album is in the works. The appearance caught the audience off guard as Cole invited Kanye West to join him mid-set. Cole introduced West as a close friend and thanked him for attending the show, drawing cheers from the crowd.
In a clip later shared on Instagram, West appears relaxed and amused as Cole jokes about the rapper’s famously reserved reactions. The exchange quickly shifted to what fans could expect next.
When asked directly whether he had any new projects on the horizon, West kept it simple. “New album,” he said, prompting loud applause inside the club. He offered no additional details about the project’s title, sound, or release timeline. Cole followed up with playful requests to appear on an interlude and to receive a package of West’s clothing, both of which West agreed to before exiting the stage.
The comedy club cameo follows another unexpected appearance by West earlier this year. In November, he popped up during Travis Scott’s Circus Maximus show in Japan. Performing at the Belluna Dome, West initially appeared masked before revealing his face to roaring applause. He launched into “Can’t Tell Me Nothing” and delivered a mini-set featuring “Runaway,” “Heartless,” “Flashing Lights,” “Stronger,” and “All of the Lights,” with Scott remaining onstage as support.
West is also expected to return to Europe next year as a headliner at the newly announced Hellwatt Festival. The event will take place at the RCF Arena across multiple weekends in July 2026, with full details set to be revealed in early 2026. The Italy announcement comes nearly two years after the release of Vultures, West’s Billboard 200-topping collaboration with Ty Dolla $ign, which concluded with listening events rather than a full concert tour.
While West has remained tight-lipped about specifics, his brief confirmation at the Hollywood Improv has reignited anticipation among fans. Even without a release date or track details, the message was clear: a new Kanye West album is officially on the way.
