Karamo Brown Reportedly Distances Himself From Queer Eye Cast After Hot Mic Incident

Key Points

  • Karamo Brown allegedly fell out with fellow Queer Eye stars following a hot mic incident in Washington, D.C.
  • Brown’s mother reportedly overheard Jonathan Van Ness, Tan France, and Antoni Porowski speaking negatively about him.
  • Brown has since unfollowed all co-stars on social media except Jeremiah Brent.
  • He skipped press appearances for the show’s final season, citing emotional strain.
  • Bobby Berk previously exited the series in 2023 after a personal disagreement with Tan France.

The Incident That Sparked Tension

According to TMZ, tensions within the Queer Eye cast escalated during filming in Washington, D.C. Karamo Brown had invited his mother to set, where production gave her headphones to observe. She allegedly overheard Jonathan Van Ness, Tan France, and Antoni Porowski criticizing Brown when he was not present.

Brown’s mother later informed him of the remarks, which reportedly created a lasting rift between Brown and his co-stars.

Brown’s Response

Since the alleged incident, Brown has distanced himself from Van Ness, France, and Porowski. He recently skipped several press events promoting the final season of Queer Eye and unfollowed all of his co-stars on social media—except for Jeremiah Brent, who joined the Fab Five in the show’s later seasons.

Brown has previously spoken about feeling “mentally and emotionally abused” during his time on the series, further fueling speculation about behind-the-scenes discord.

Past Cast Tensions

This is not the first time Queer Eye cast members have clashed. In 2023, Bobby Berk announced his departure from the series, citing a personal disagreement with Tan France. “There was a situation, and that’s between Tan and I… it was something personal that had been brewing,” Berk explained at the time, clarifying that it was not romantic.

No Public Response From Co-Stars

As of now, Van Ness, France, and Porowski have not publicly addressed the alleged hot mic incident. The silence has left fans speculating about the future of the Fab Five’s dynamic as the show approaches its conclusion.

What Happens Next?

With Queer Eye wrapping its final season, questions remain about whether the cast will reconcile or continue to drift apart. For now, Brown’s absence from promotional events and social media activity suggests the rift may persist beyond the series finale.
