Kate Hudson is lending her voice to the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. The actress and musician appeared in a new promo video aired on NBC as the Milan Cortina Winter Olympics closed, performing a heartfelt rendition of the Mamas & the Papas’ 1963 classic California Dreamin’.
The clip paired Hudson’s vocals with images of athletes expected to shine at the LA28 Games, alongside sweeping visuals of Los Angeles. Hudson later shared the video on Instagram, writing: “Built on California dreams, powered by Olympic and Paralympic champions.”
The Los Angeles Summer Olympics will run from July 14 to 30, 2028. The Games were first teased at the conclusion of the 2024 Paris Olympics, which featured a star‑studded closing ceremony with Billie Eilish, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Snoop Dogg, and H.E.R. Actor Tom Cruise also made headlines by rappelling down the stadium, grabbing the Olympic flag, and attaching the logo to the Hollywood sign in a pre‑recorded stunt.
Hudson’s Olympic promo comes as she continues to embrace her music career. At the 2026 BAFTA Awards, she was nominated for Best Leading Actress for Song Sung Blue, though the award went to Jessie Buckley for Hamnet. Hudson is also nominated for Best Actress at the upcoming Oscars. Speaking to Rolling Stone, Hudson described her shift to music as the “best decision” she’s ever made. She explained that her creative output now feels more authentic, inspiring fans who see her journey as proof that it’s never too late to pursue new passions. “I feel like I’m just getting started,” she said.
Hudson’s performance adds to the growing anticipation for LA28, which promises to blend athletic excellence with California’s cultural vibrancy. With her soulful take on California Dreamin’, Hudson sets the tone for a Games that celebrate both sport and creativity.
