Paramount+’s hit drama Landman is gearing up for a bold new chapter. Co-creator Christian Wallace revealed that the upcoming third season will serve as a “reset,” shifting the narrative into new territory while reimagining character dynamics.
“It’s kind of a reset,” Wallace told The Hollywood Reporter. “We have these characters entering into different dynamics with one another… It’s now family-run, very small, starting from almost scratch.”
Season 2 ended with Tommy (Billy Bob Thornton) being fired from M-Tex Oil by Cami (Demi Moore). In Season 3, Tommy joins forces with his son Cooper and grandfather T.L. to establish CTT Oil, a family-run operation. Their venture quickly escalates when Tommy strikes a dangerous deal with cartel boss Gallino, who threatens to take what Tommy loves most if the partnership fails.
“Tommy knows it better than anybody… these are not idle threats,” Wallace explained. “We’ve seen him grow a lot. Now he’s kind of going back to the roulette wheel and betting on himself.”
Wallace emphasized that the creative direction ultimately lies with series co-creator Taylor Sheridan, known for Yellowstone and Mayor of Kingstown. “At the end of the day, it is Taylor’s plan and we’re all just waiting on what he decides to do,” Wallace said.
Production is set to resume in May 2026, though Wallace acknowledged the challenges of filming in the extreme Texas heat. “We’re in a groove… the rhythm we’re in right now works really well,” he added.
Wallace confirmed the return of Sam Elliott as T.L., noting that Tommy’s coyote encounter in the Season 2 finale symbolized lessons absorbed from his grandfather. As for Cami’s return, Wallace admitted, “That one is above my pay grade.”
The series will continue to operate within its compressed timeline format, which Wallace said “feels right for this story.”
Landman has quickly become one of Paramount+’s flagship dramas, blending family conflict, corporate intrigue, and high-stakes oil industry drama. A narrative reset in Season 3 signals fresh storytelling opportunities while keeping fans invested in Tommy’s volatile journey.
With production resuming in May, fans can expect more updates on casting and plot developments in the months ahead. Season 3 promises to raise the stakes with Tommy’s risky new venture, Gallino’s looming threats, and Sheridan’s signature storytelling style guiding the series forward.
