Broadway fans are buzzing after a jaw-dropping revival of the musical Chess officially opened at the Imperial Theatre on November 16, 2025.
Led by Lea Michele and Aaron Tveit, the bold new production has already left audiences emotional and speechless, thanks to its fresh book, lavish staging, and powerhouse performances.
This revival marks the first major Broadway return of Chess since its short-lived 1988 production.
The show stars Aaron Tveit as American grandmaster Freddie Trumper, Lea Michele as Florence Vassey, and Nicholas Christopher as Soviet rival Anatoly Sergievsky.
Directed by Tony winner Michael Mayer, the production reunites him with Michele after their collaborations on Funny Girl and Spring Awakening.
