Children’s Nativity Performance Stuns Viewers — The Most Powerful Light the World Yet

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has released its 2025 Light the World Christmas video titled “The First Christmas Story, Retold by Children.” The heartfelt production invites people around the world to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ by spreading kindness, service, and light during the holiday season.

The video premiered on Sunday, November 30, 2025, across official Church social media platforms, encouraging viewers to “experience the joy that comes from the Savior of the world.” Available in English, Spanish, Portuguese, and French, the film features children reenacting the Nativity story from Luke 2, interwoven with scenes from the Church’s 2019 cinematic depiction, “The Christ Child.”

A Worldwide Message of Unity and Light

Reflecting the global reach of the Light the World initiative, several Church regions—including areas in Kenya, the Philippines, Brazil, and South America—created their own localized versions of the video in their native languages and cultural styles. These regional adaptations will be distributed on Church media channels throughout December.

Church leaders emphasized that Light the World is more than a seasonal tradition; it is a meaningful call to serve. Speaking at a Light the World event in Kansas City, Missouri, on November 22, 2025, Elder Gary E. Stevenson of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles shared a message about living the teachings of Christ through everyday actions.

Quoting scripture, he reminded audiences that Jesus Christ taught, “I am the light of the world” (John 8:12). Elder Stevenson added, “His light was never meant to be admired from afar. It was meant to be shared. When we give, whether it be through a machine, a donation, or even just a kind act, we become His light.”

Resources to Inspire Holiday Giving

In addition to the video, LighttheWorld.org offers tools to encourage meaningful service throughout December, including:

  • A downloadable list of ideas to “Add Light to Your Christmas Traditions”

  • Links to inspirational videos and stories

  • An interactive service idea generator

  • Resources for individuals, families, congregations, and youth groups

The Light the World initiative, first launched in 2016, has become a global movement inspiring millions to perform small and simple acts of Christlike service—whether through giving time, donations, or acts of compassion.

Celebrating Christmas With Purpose

This year’s production highlights children sharing the Nativity story with innocence and sincerity, reminding viewers of the humble beginnings of the Savior of the world. More than a retelling of scripture, the video serves as a reminder that everyone can help spread hope and light, no matter their age or circumstances.

The Church encourages those who watch the film to share it with family, friends, and neighbors as a way to inspire unity and goodwill.
