Defending Kelly in a Time of Grief

On March 2, Osbourne reposted Tyler’s statement on Instagram Stories. Tyler, daughter of Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler, condemned the trolls who targeted Osbourne during what she described as the “hardest time” of her life.

“Public grief is not public property. Grief can change a person,” Tyler wrote. “That doesn’t make their body a topic for debate.”

A Call for Compassion

Tyler emphasized the strength it takes to stand in the public eye while mourning a loved one. “Before you comment on someone’s body, consider the possibility that they’re carrying something heavier than your opinion,” she said. “Kindness costs nothing. Cruelty costs character.”

Her words came after Kelly and her mother Sharon Osbourne attended the BRIT Awards in Manchester on February 28 to accept a posthumous lifetime achievement award for Ozzy Osbourne, who died in July 2025.

Kelly’s Own Response to Trolls

Kelly Osbourne, 41, addressed the backlash herself on March 1, writing on Instagram Stories: “There is a special kind of cruelty in harming someone who is clearly going through something. I’m currently going through the hardest time in my life. I should not even have to defend myself.” She previously spoke out against body-shaming in December 2025, noting that comments about her health and appearance were particularly painful in the wake of her father’s death.

Tyler’s statement resonated widely, reminding fans that celebrities are not immune to grief or pain. “If you have the energy to comment, you have the energy to be kind,” she concluded.
