Hinaupoko Devèze, a 23‑year‑old psychology graduate representing Tahiti, was crowned Miss France 2026 on Saturday, December 6, during a dazzling ceremony at the Zénith d’Amiens. Her win, determined by a combined jury and public vote, topped a competitive field of 30 regional contestants and delivered Tahiti its sixth national title.
The victory ends a seven‑year wait for the region, reaffirming Tahiti’s strong legacy within the Miss France competition.
The live TF1 broadcast showcased a polished production anchored once again by longtime host Jean‑Pierre Foucault, 78. This year’s theme, “Travel,” guided the evening’s creative segments, which included performances inspired by “Asia,” “The Future,” “History,” and “Dreams.”
The 30 contestants opened the show with a choreographed number in shimmering gowns, while the traditional regional costume parade featured a special collaboration with the Republican Guard.
Miss New Caledonia Juliette Collet secured the first runner‑up position, followed by Miss Normandy Victoire Dupuis as second runner‑up.
Devèze succeeds Angélique Angarni‑Filopon of Martinique, who made history in 2025 as the oldest Miss France winner at age 34. Angarni‑Filopon’s reign was overshadowed by cyberbullying targeting her age, prompting the organisation to publicly condemn such harassment, stating it has “no place in our competition.”
The selection process adhered to the pageant’s established format. Twelve semi‑finalists were chosen before the group was narrowed to five finalists. The final decision was determined by an equal split between public votes and jury scores.
This year’s jury was chaired by actress Michèle Bernier and included opera singer Axelle Saint‑Cirel, journalist Bruce Toussaint, and influencer Sally, among others.
A new mentorship initiative debuted this year, with former Miss France 2015 Camille Cerf appointed to guide the winner throughout her reign—an effort to provide stronger support as titleholders navigate public responsibilities.
Despite the celebratory atmosphere, Miss France continues to face criticism from feminist organisations such as Osez le féminisme!, which argue that the competition perpetuates the objectification of women. The group has repeatedly called for the pageant’s abolition, keeping the debate alive even as the show maintains strong viewership.
As Miss France 2026, Devèze will embark on a year of public appearances, charitable engagements, and media commitments, supported by the newly introduced mentorship program. Her reign will also unfold amid ongoing conversations about the future of the pageant and its place in modern French culture.
