K-pop powerhouse Monsta X has kicked off 2026 with a heartfelt new release. The group unveiled their English-language single “Growing Pains” at midnight, marking their first track of the year and the lead single from their upcoming album.
“Growing Pains” explores themes of identity, perseverance, and the universal struggles of adulthood. With its slick ’80s-inspired power ballad energy, the track blends emotional lyrics with soaring melodies. Lines such as “baby I’ll be okay… one day I’ll understand that I’m good as I am” highlight the group’s embrace of imperfection, while “all the strength I’ve found, I’m still standing now” underscores resilience. The bittersweet hook, “I’m finding my way dealing with these growing pains,” resonates as an anthem for personal growth and evolution.
The release follows a milestone year for Monsta X. In 2025, members Joohoney, Hyungwon, and Kihyun completed their mandatory South Korean military service, allowing the six-member group—Joohoney, I.M., Hyungwon, Kihyun, Minhyuk, and Shownu—to reunite fully. Soon after, they dropped The X EP in September to celebrate their 10th anniversary. The group also premiered Connect X, a concert movie that honored their decade-long journey with their devoted fandom, MONBEBE.
Monsta X has already made history as one of the few K-pop acts to break into the Billboard 200 top 10. Their first English-language album, All About Luv (2020), debuted at No. 5, while their second, The Dreaming (2021), peaked at No. 21. Now, “Growing Pains” sets the stage for their third English-language collection, an unprecedented achievement for a K-pop group. The track follows “baby blue,” which debuted at iHeartRadio’s Jingle Ball in December 2025.
The single reflects Monsta X’s evolution as artists and individuals. By tackling themes of sacrifice, resilience, and self-acceptance, the group connects deeply with listeners navigating their own challenges. With “Growing Pains” already streaming worldwide, anticipation is building for the full album. For MONBEBE, the track is more than just music—it’s a testament to the group’s enduring bond and creative growth.
