Netflix has officially acquired streaming rights to CBS’s long-running military drama SEAL Team, marking the show’s debut on the platform. The move comes after the series concluded its seven-season run, with later episodes airing on Paramount+.
The licensing agreement was revealed in Netflix’s Q4 2025 shareholder letter, which outlined a broader deal with Paramount Global covering approximately 20 titles.
SEAL Team follows an elite unit of Navy SEALs as they undertake high-risk missions across the globe. Beyond the action, the series explores the personal sacrifices and emotional toll of military life.
The ensemble cast includes David Boreanaz as team leader Jason Hayes and Max Thieriot as Clay Spenser. Over its seven seasons, the show built a loyal fanbase with its mix of tactical realism and character-driven drama.
The addition of SEAL Team strengthens Netflix’s lineup of procedural dramas, joining titles such as S.W.A.T. and The Night Agent, both of which have performed strongly on the platform.
The deal also reflects a growing trend of licensed content from Paramount+, Showtime, and CBS migrating to Netflix, giving canceled or concluded series new life with broader audiences.
Netflix’s acquisition comes at a time of heightened competition in the streaming market. The company is actively pursuing major media assets, including a high-profile bid for HBO and Warner Bros. studios, while simultaneously expanding its library through licensing deals.
By securing SEAL Team, Netflix positions itself to attract fans of military dramas and procedural storytelling, genres that continue to perform well globally.
Netflix has not yet confirmed release dates or clarified how many seasons of SEAL Team will be available at launch. Updates are expected in the coming months as the platform integrates the series into its catalog.
For fans, the move ensures that SEAL Team will remain accessible, potentially introducing the show to new audiences worldwide.
