Nicole Kidman Reflects on Family and Resilience After Keith Urban Divorce

Nicole Kidman is opening up about her turbulent 2025, when she filed for divorce from country star Keith Urban after nearly two decades of marriage.

A Year of Retreat

In a new Variety cover story, Kidman admitted the split forced her into a period of quiet reflection. “Last year, I was quiet. I had other things going on. I was in my shell,” she said. The actress emphasized that her priority has been keeping her family together and moving toward positivity.

Family First

Kidman and Urban share two daughters, Sunday, 17, and Faith, 15. “I’m always going to be moving toward what’s good. What I’m grateful for is my family and keeping them as is and moving forward,” Kidman explained. “I’m staying in a place of, ‘We are a family,’ and that’s what we’ll continue to be. My beautiful girls, my darlings, who are suddenly women.”

A Hollywood Power Couple

Kidman and Urban married in June 2006 after meeting at the G’Day USA gala in Los Angeles. For years, they were one of Hollywood’s most visible couples, supporting each other’s careers at concerts, award shows, and premieres. Early in their marriage, Kidman staged an intervention for Urban during his battle with addiction, helping him enter rehab. Urban later credited her with being integral to his recovery and sobriety.

When Kidman received the AFI Lifetime Achievement Award in 2024, Urban praised her influence in his tribute speech, highlighting the strength of their bond despite challenges.

Looking Ahead

Now, Kidman is focused on her career. She stars in Scarpetta, which debuts on Prime Video this week, and has several major projects lined up for 2026. These include the long-awaited sequel to Practical Magic, a supporting role in Osgood Perkins’ Young People, and season three of Taylor Sheridan’s Lioness.

Kidman’s reflections show her resilience and determination to prioritize family while continuing to thrive professionally.
