Oscars 2026: Bridesmaids Cast Reunites for Comedy Gold

The 98th Academy Awards delivered a dose of nostalgia when the cast of Bridesmaids reunited onstage. Best Actress nominee Rose Byrne was joined by Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Ellie Kemper, and Maya Rudolph to present the Oscar for Best Original Score.

Comedy Sketch Wins the Room

Kristen Wiig kicked off the bit with a playful jab at the film’s age: “I cannot believe that it’s been 15 years. Now we are not good with numbers, but we figured out backstage that means we shot this movie in 1883.” The group then read out fake “letters” from celebrities in the audience, including a running gag involving Stellan Skarsgård and Elle Fanning.

Maya Rudolph’s letter praised the women’s looks, while McCarthy joked about illegible handwriting. Wiig capped the sketch with a note from Benicio Del Toro, poking fun at the length of their bit: “You guys have been talking for a long time. This bit could have been a lot shorter.”

Nostalgia Meets Oscars Glamour

The reunion reminded audiences of the 2011 comedy classic directed by Paul Feig. At the time, Wiig and Annie Mumolo earned an Oscar nomination for Best Original Screenplay, while McCarthy was nominated for Best Supporting Actress.

While the reunion was a highlight, the award itself went to Ludwig Göransson for Sinners. Elsewhere, Jessie Buckley won Best Actress for Hamnet, while Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another swept multiple categories, including Best Director and Best Picture.
