The Philadelphia Phillies are pushing forward with one of the league’s most active offseasons, and their latest target may be a familiar face. Following the signing of All-Star outfielder Adolis García to a one-year, $10 million contract, the club is now showing strong interest in bringing back former center fielder Harrison Bader.
Bader, a free agent, is reportedly seeking a three-year deal worth between $30 million and $45 million. Philadelphia’s interest is real—but so are the financial hurdles.
The Phillies’ outfield picture remains fluid. Nick Castellanos, owed $20 million next season, has drawn little interest on the trade market after a disappointing 2024 campaign. With Castellanos difficult to move, the team may instead consider dealing Alec Bohm, whose arbitration salary is projected just above $10 million.
Trading Bohm could free up the flexibility needed to pursue Bader—or potentially a bigger swing.
Philadelphia has also renewed its interest in Luis Robert Jr., the talented but injury-prone outfielder from the Chicago White Sox. League insiders suggest the Phillies could package Bohm or other assets to make a deal work.
In a twist that could accelerate talks, the White Sox are reportedly willing to absorb part of Robert’s salary, making the former All-Star a more attainable option for teams willing to gamble on his upside.
Meanwhile, Kyle Schwarber remains one of the most sought-after free agents on the market.
Schwarber’s strong market suggests he will have multiple landing spots to choose from as negotiations progress.
Beyond Bader and Robert Jr., the Phillies are monitoring several additional options:
Philadelphia is also fielding calls on bullpen arms José Alvarado and Matt Strahm, while Johan Rojas—a defensively gifted but offensively inconsistent center fielder—has surfaced in trade discussions.
With free agency and trade talks accelerating, the Phillies’ front office faces pivotal decisions that will shape the franchise’s trajectory heading into the 2026 season. Whether they pursue a Bader reunion, swing big for Robert Jr., or retool through multiple smaller moves, Philadelphia’s offseason strategy hinges on balancing roster upgrades with financial maneuvering.
The coming weeks will determine how aggressively the Phillies push their competitive window—and which players will anchor their outfield for years to come.
