The Pokemon Legends franchise expands with its first paid DLC for Z-A, titled Mega Dimension, launching globally on December 10, 2025. The Pokémon Company confirmed the release date following a new trailer drop. The expansion introduces Hyperspace Lumiose, a chrome-altered version of the iconic city, accessible via portals opened by the Mythical Pokémon Hoopa. The DLC adds new Mega Evolutions, returning characters, and a side mission featuring Diancie. The Pokemon Legends update marks a major content milestone for the Switch 1-era title.
The Mega Dimension DLC for Pokemon Legends: Z-A arrives December 10 on Nintendo Switch and Switch 2. Players will explore Hyperspace Lumiose, a distorted version of the base game’s setting, populated by Alolan and Galarian Pokémon variants. The expansion introduces new mechanics, including “hyperspace levels” that exceed level 100. The DLC was announced less than a month after the base game’s release, reflecting The Pokémon Company’s aggressive post-launch strategy. Access to new areas is unlocked via donuts baked by new character Ansha, using berries collected in Hyperspace.
The DLC is priced at $29.99 and includes both single-player and online multiplayer content.
IGN noted the DLC’s “ambitious scope and visual flair,” while GameSpot rated the base game 7/10, calling it “a fitting end to the Switch 1-era Pokémon games”. Fans expressed mixed reactions online, with some frustrated by the early DLC announcement, though many praised the depth of content and return of legacy characters.
The Pokemon Legends DLC reinforces the franchise’s commitment to evolving gameplay mechanics. Hyperspace Lumiose introduces high-level challenges and alternate forms, expanding replayability. The integration of online rewards and side missions adds strategic depth. The return of Korrina and new Mega Evolutions may appeal to long-time fans of X and Y, while the Diancie mission offers immediate engagement.
The Pokémon Company is expected to preview future expansions during its February 2026 Pokémon Day broadcast.
