Princess Cruises Breaks World Record With Matthew McConaughey’s Tequila

Princess Cruises has raised a glass to history, officially breaking a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title aboard the Regal Princess in Cozumel. The cruise line achieved the milestone by serving thousands of margaritas in just eight hours, with the help of Matthew and Camila McConaughey’s tequila brand, Pantalones Organic Tequila.

Record-Breaking Celebration at Sea

On February 17, the Regal Princess transformed into a floating fiesta. Bartenders served 3,410 handcrafted 24K Margaritas, surpassing the previous record of 2,728. The achievement was verified by an official Guinness adjudicator, making the Regal Princess the first ship in the Princess fleet to hold a Guinness World Record on its own.

Thomas Bradford, an adjudicator from Guinness World Records, said: “You could feel the celebration in every bar of Regal Princess as Princess Cruises made history with a new GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title for Most Margaritas Sold in 8 Hours.”

One Million Margaritas Milestone

The record comes as Princess Cruises celebrates another achievement: selling more than one million 24K Margaritas across its fleet in just over a year. Between January 2025 and January 2026, the cruise line served 1,038,197 of the signature cocktails, cementing the drink as the fleet’s most popular.

McConaughey’s Tequila Partnership

The 24K Margarita is crafted exclusively with Pantalones Organic Blanco Tequila, co-founded by Matthew and Camila McConaughey. The couple sent a congratulatory video message to the crew and guests, applauding the record-breaking success. This partnership began in October 2024 and has quickly become one of the most successful beverage collaborations in cruise history. The McConaugheys also blessed Princess’ newest ship, Star Princess, with a bottle of Pantalones Tequila during its christening.

Expanding Celebrity Spirits Lineup

Pantalones Tequila is now featured across the Princess fleet and included in premium drink packages. Guests can enjoy cocktails like Pants on Fire, Sea Legs, Hot Pants, and the Fancy Pants Paloma, all created with Pantalones varieties. The tequila joins Princess Cruises’ expanding Love Line Premium Liquors Collection, which includes celebrity-led brands such as Hampton Water Rosé by Jon Bon Jovi, Sláinte Irish Whiskey by Liev Schreiber, and Archer Roose Wines by Elizabeth Banks.
