Puppy Bowl 2026 Will Melt Your Heart — 150 Rescue Dogs, a Senior Halftime Show, and More!

Super Bowl Sunday is about more than football—it’s also about one of the most adorable traditions in sports television: the Puppy Bowl. Since 2005, the event has showcased rescue dogs in a playful competition designed to raise awareness about adoption. This year’s edition promises to be bigger than ever, with over 150 pups taking the field.

When Is the Puppy Bowl 2026?

The 22nd Puppy Bowl airs on Sunday, February 8, 2026, at 2 p.m. ET / 11 a.m. PT. The timing ensures fans can enjoy the full three-hour special before switching over to Super Bowl 60, which kicks off later that evening at 6:30 p.m. ET.

Who’s Playing?

This year’s lineup includes:

  • 150 rescue dogs from 72 shelters across the U.S., Puerto Rico, and the British Virgin Islands.
  • Two teams: Team Ruff and Team Fluff, competing for playful bragging rights.
  • A starting lineup of 16 pups, each vying for the title of “Most Pupular.”

Every dog featured is available for adoption, continuing the Puppy Bowl’s mission to connect viewers with shelters and encourage pet adoption.

Special Halftime Show

For the first time, the Puppy Bowl will feature a halftime show dedicated to senior dogs. The segment, dubbed Team Goldies vs. Team Oldies, shines a spotlight on older dogs who often face greater challenges finding forever homes. It’s a heartfelt addition that emphasizes the importance of adopting pets of all ages.

Where to Watch

Fans can tune in across multiple platforms:

  • Animal Planet, Discovery Channel, TBS, truTV
  • Streaming on HBO Max and discovery+

After its initial airing, the Puppy Bowl will be available on-demand, making it easy to watch anytime.

Why It Matters

The Puppy Bowl has become a beloved Super Bowl Sunday tradition, blending entertainment with advocacy. By showcasing rescue dogs in a fun, football-themed setting, the event raises awareness about adoption while giving viewers a joyful, family-friendly alternative before the big game. With its mix of playful competition, heartwarming stories, and a brand-new halftime show, Puppy Bowl 2026 is set to be one of the most memorable yet.
