Raven-Symoné Sparks Debate With Disney Mount Rushmore Picks

Raven-Symoné has reignited nostalgia and controversy among Disney fans after sharing her personal “Disney Mount Rushmore” list — and leaving Miley Cyrus off it.

Raven’s Picks

In a March 10 interview with The Shade Room, the That’s So Raven star named herself, Hilary Duff, Shia LaBeouf, and Lee Thompson Young as the figures who paved the way for Disney Channel’s golden era. Young, who starred in The Famous Jett Jackson from 1998 to 2001, was praised by Raven for being part of the first Black-led Disney series.

“I would also put in The Famous Jett Jackson,” Raven explained. “He is no longer with us, but he was the first Black show on Disney. He definitely deserves a spot.”

Miley Left Out

When asked about Miley Cyrus, whose Hannah Montana became one of Disney’s most successful shows, Raven said: “No, not Miley. I love you, Miley, but not Miley. She came after.”

Her omission immediately divided fans online. Some argued Miley’s cultural impact was undeniable, while others agreed with Raven’s view that her list focused on those who paved the way before Cyrus’s era.

Fan Reactions

Comments on social media reflected the split:

  • “Nah Miley deserves to be on it. Legends should be on it.”
  • “For her era this is correct. After that it’s Miley, Selena, Demi, & the Sprouse Twins.”
  • “She didn’t discredit Miley. The question was WHO PAVED THE WAY.”

Miley’s Legacy

Despite Raven’s stance, Miley’s Disney legacy is being celebrated this month. The Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special premieres March 24, featuring Cyrus revisiting sets, reuniting with her father Billy Ray Cyrus, and sitting down for an interview with Alex Cooper.

Whether or not she belongs on Raven’s Mount Rushmore, Miley’s influence on Disney Channel and pop culture remains undeniable.
