Paramount+ has officially confirmed that Roofman, the highly anticipated crime drama starring Channing Tatum and Kirsten Dunst, will premiere on the streaming platform on Tuesday. The film, which generated buzz after screenings at major festivals, is based on the extraordinary true story of Jeffrey Manchester, an Army veteran whose life took a dramatic turn from family man to notorious criminal.
The film follows Manchester (Tatum) as he attempts to support his family after returning from service. When financial pressures mount, he turns to an unconventional and illegal method of survival: robbing McDonald’s restaurants by cutting holes through their roofs, earning him the infamous nickname “Roofman.”
His criminal path escalates after he escapes from prison, leading to one of the most audacious hideouts in modern crime history — living secretly inside a Toys ‘R’ Us store for six months, operating entirely undetected while building his plan for another robbery.
While hiding out, Manchester meets Leigh (Dunst), a divorced mother who becomes unexpectedly charmed by him. Their relationship introduces unexpected emotional stakes, as Manchester struggles to maintain his double identity. As law enforcement closes in, the story becomes a tense battle of deception and survival.
The emotional dynamic between Tatum and Dunst has already received critical praise. Dunst’s performance earned her a nomination for Best Supporting Performance at the Independent Spirit Awards, highlighting the film’s strong awards-season potential.
Alongside Tatum and Dunst, Roofman features a stacked supporting cast, including:
Ben Mendelsohn
LaKeith Stanfield
Juno Temple
Uzo Aduba
Lily Collias
Jimmy O. Yang
Peter Dinklage
Dinklage made headlines earlier this year when he appeared at the Los Angeles premiere, further amplifying visibility for the project’s release.
Roofman made its debut at the BFI London Film Festival in October, where audiences praised its blend of thriller pacing, dark humor, and heartfelt character drama. The film is expected to perform strongly on Paramount+, particularly among fans of true-crime adaptations and prestige storytelling.
With momentum building ahead of awards season and major streaming competition intensifying, Roofman is shaping up to be one of Paramount+’s marquee winter releases.
