Before marrying Prince Harry, Meghan Markle was best known for her role as Rachel Zane on the hit legal drama Suits. She appeared in more than 100 episodes between 2011 and 2017, portraying a smart and ambitious paralegal who eventually became a lawyer.
According to a new report, members of the royal family were uneasy about Markle’s “very sexy” role. Casting director Eliza Roberts, wife of Markle’s Suits co-star Eric Roberts, told the Daily Mail that the monarchy was concerned about her intimate scenes. “Her making love with another man, that was just — they’ve never seen anything like that,” Roberts said.
Despite the concerns, Roberts emphasized Markle’s undeniable talent and charisma. “Meghan is a star. From the second you see her, she just has star quality,” she added.
Meghan left Suits in 2017 to pursue her relationship with Prince Harry. The couple married in May 2018 and later stepped down as senior working royals in 2020. They relocated to California, where they continue to raise their two children, Archie, 6, and Lilibet, 4.
The report highlights the tension between Meghan’s Hollywood career and her role within the royal family. While her acting background helped her build a global profile, it also presented challenges for an institution steeped in tradition.
