Sheryl Underwood is the latest guest host to join The View, stepping in for Alyssa Farah Griffin, who is currently on maternity leave.
Underwood is no stranger to talk shows. She was a cohost on CBS’s The Talk from 2011 until 2024, making her the longest-running panelist in the show’s history. Her sharp wit and candid commentary earned her a loyal following during her 13-year tenure.
Before her television career, Underwood made her mark in stand-up comedy. She became the first female finalist in the Miller Lite Comedy Search in 1989 and went on to appear on Def Comedy Jam and Make Me Laugh. She also hosted BET’s Comic View from 2002 to 2003. Today, she continues to tour with her stand-up show, I Need a Job.
Underwood identifies as a lifelong Republican but has often been critical of Donald Trump and his administration. On her debut episode of The View, she joked about being named DHS secretary after Kristi Noem’s ouster, quipping, “I will accept. They need somebody with some sense in this administration.”
She also addressed Trump supporters directly, saying that America has already achieved greatness through unity and collaboration. “It’s OK to disagree with your leaders, because they need somebody to say that’s not what we should be doing,” she explained.
Underwood is the fifth guest host to appear during Griffin’s leave, following Savannah Chrisley, Amanda Carpenter, Sara Eisen, and Elisabeth Hasselbeck. Her addition brings a mix of comedy, political insight, and daytime TV experience to the panel. With her blend of humor and candor, Underwood is expected to bring lively discussions and fresh energy to The View during her guest-hosting stint.
