Leon Brown Breaks Silence, Accuses Kody Brown of Abandonment After Garrison’s Death

A new controversy is erupting within the Sister Wives family. Leon Brown, the child of Kody and his first wife, Meri Brown, is publicly disputing Kody Brown’s claim that he has attempted to reconnect with his estranged older children. The confrontation came after Kody stated on the latest episode of the long-running TLC reality series that he has repeatedly reached out and that the lack of communication is due to his children not responding. The Sister Wives patriarch, 56, made the remarks during a conversation with wife Robyn Brown, saying he wants therapy to help repair the fractured relationships within his family.

Leon Brown Reacts: ‘He Is a Liar’

After the clip circulated online, Leon Brown broke their recent social-media silence to refute the statement. Posting to Instagram Stories, they wrote that Kody has not contacted them since the tragic death of their brother, Garrison Brown.

“Let me be so f—— clear: I have not heard from that man since my brother killed himself,” Leon wrote. “Kody blatantly blew me off at Garrison’s funeral. He is a liar. He is a joke of a father. That’s all.”

Leon shares a strained relationship with Kody, particularly following years of family tension documented on Sister Wives. Leon’s message sparked widespread reaction from viewers who have followed the family for more than a decade on television.

Kody Previously Claimed Efforts to Reconnect

In the Sister Wives episode, Kody insisted that he has tried repeatedly to reestablish connections with his children from marriages to Meri, Janelle, Christine, and Robyn, stating:
“I’ve reached out to every one of my children, and multiple times.”

However, Leon’s post directly challenges that narrative and adds emotional weight by referencing the death of Garrison Brown, who died by suicide in March 2024.

At the time, both Kody and Janelle Brown issued a joint statement calling the loss “devastating” and asking for privacy as their family grieved.

Family Members Hope for Healing — But Tension Remains

Ahead of her memoir release earlier this year, Christine Brown told PEOPLE that she believes there is potential for progress even amid the conflict.

“Things take time,” Christine said. “I think that things are going to be better, and I hope things are going to be better.”

Still, viewers have seen Kody struggle with fallout from his separations from Meri, Janelle, and Christine, as well as the ongoing emotional distance from many of his older children.

On a previous episode, he noted:
“My children will always be my children. The door will always be open to them.”

As the family continues to navigate grief, separation, and public judgement, Leon’s sharp response signals that reconciliation remains far off — at least for now.
