Netflix has officially released the full-length trailer for the fifth and final season of Stranger Things, setting the stage for an explosive showdown between Vecna and the Hawkins crew.
The new season, premiering across three holiday dates starting November 26, follows the characters as they confront the aftermath of their Season 4 defeat.
With Hawkins under military quarantine and the Upside Down bleeding into reality, the group must unite for one last mission.
Series creators Matt and Ross Duffer have promised a darker, faster-paced season — one that “sprints from the start.”
The trailer gives fans their first extended look at Eleven, Hopper, and the full team preparing for the final confrontation with Vecna.
The final season of Stranger Things begins with Volume 1 on November 26, followed by Volume 2 on December 26, and concluding with a two-hour finale, “The Rightside Up,” on December 31, 2025.
Netflix confirmed that the finale will also screen in over 350 theaters across the U.S. and Canada, allowing fans to experience the end of Hawkins’ saga on the big screen.
Set in the fall of 1987, the story finds Hawkins sealed off by the government after the catastrophic opening of the Rifts. The group’s mission is simple yet impossible: locate and kill Vecna before his darkness consumes the world.
Eleven is forced into hiding once again as the government intensifies its search for her, while Will senses an old dread returning with the anniversary of his disappearance.
Speaking to Tudum, cocreator Matt Duffer said, “They’re not experiencing normal life. Nothing in Hawkins is normal anymore. Their movement is restricted, and there are Big Brother cameras everywhere.”
Ross Duffer added, “What’s unique about this season is that it starts a little bit in chaos because our heroes ultimately lost at the end of Season 4. Usually, we start with normal life before the supernatural. This time, it’s sprinting from the start.”
Both hinted that the emotional tone of the final season will be heavier, with all characters brought together “one last time” for the ultimate showdown.
The trailer immediately sparked global fan reactions online, with hashtags #StrangerThings5 and #VecnaReturns trending within hours of release.
Netflix executives expect record-breaking viewership, predicting that the finale could surpass Season 4’s 1.3 billion viewing hours.
Critics note the Duffer Brothers’ decision to release the season in volumes mirrors the studio’s approach with The Crown and The Witcher, allowing sustained engagement through the holiday season.
Fans are particularly eager to see how Will Byers’ arc concludes — teased in the trailer through haunting flashbacks and Vecna’s voiceover.
Netflix will release more details on theater ticketing and fan events for “The Rightside Up” in November.
In addition, an exclusive behind-the-scenes documentary, The Final Chapter: Making of Stranger Things 5, is expected to debut in January 2026.
Until then, the full trailer for Stranger Things Season 5 is available on Netflix’s official YouTube and Tudum channels.
