Security Firm Issues Statement

Security Industry Specialists (SIS), the company contracted by the Academy, acknowledged the incident but described the contact as “incidental.” In a statement to Variety, SIS said: “Our security personnel were working to manage a crowded area and ensure the safety of all guests. During that interaction, there was incidental contact and we regret that the situation escalated. This is not the standard of professionalism we expect from our team.” The firm confirmed the matter has been addressed internally.

Academy Condemns Behavior

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences also released a statement, calling the guard’s conduct “not acceptable.” “We were extremely upset to learn about the experience endured by Teyana Taylor,” the Academy said via Deadline. “Though the incident was with our outside security firm, the experience of every single guest is our responsibility. We have made it clear that this behavior is not acceptable.”

Taylor Speaks Out

Later that evening, Taylor told TMZ: “Security was just doing a lot. There’s always that one. I just don’t tolerate disrespect, especially when it’s unwarranted and unprovoked.” According to reports, the guard had tried to block her from returning to the stage for a victory photo with her cast and even asked her to apologize.
