Timothée Chalamet added another milestone to his career on Sunday night, taking home the Best Actor prize at the annual Critics Choice Awards. His performance in Marty Supreme was recognized by the body of film critics for its raw and compelling portrayal of a man grappling with ambition and imperfection.
At the Barker Hangar in Los Angeles, Chalamet expressed admiration for his fellow nominees, singling out Michael B. Jordan for his dual role in Sinners.
“Michael, man, unbelievable,” Chalamet said. “Just rewatched Sinners. I hadn’t seen the after-credit scene. I’m happy I stuck around the second time.”
He also praised Marty Supreme director Josh Safdie, crediting him for crafting a story that resonated without moralizing. “You made a story about a flawed man with a relatable dream, and you didn’t preach to the audience about what’s right and wrong,” Chalamet noted. “I think we should all be telling stories like that. Thank you for this dream.”
In a rare public gesture, Chalamet thanked his girlfriend Kylie Jenner, acknowledging their three-year relationship. “Thank you to my partner of three years,” he said. “Thank you for our foundation. I love you. I couldn’t do this without you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.” Jenner, seated in the audience, was seen mouthing “I love you” in response.
Chalamet’s award win followed a highly visible promotional campaign for Marty Supreme, which premiered on December 25, 2025. He participated in an 18-minute Zoom session with the film’s marketing team and appeared on The Tonight Show to discuss the project.
“This is a movie about sacrifice in pursuit of a dream,” Chalamet explained during his promotional tour. “It’s something I can relate to deeply. That’s the spirit of Marty Supreme, out on Christmas Day.”
The Critics Choice Awards are often seen as a bellwether for the Oscars, making Chalamet’s win a significant moment in the awards season. His performance, combined with his active promotion and heartfelt speech, reinforces his standing as one of Hollywood’s most admired actors of his generation.
With awards season in full swing, Chalamet’s victory positions Marty Supreme as a strong contender for upcoming ceremonies. Industry watchers will be keeping a close eye on whether this win translates into momentum at the Academy Awards.
