Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce may be best known for his NFL career, but he’s also a passionate golfer. Last week, he played in the WM Phoenix Open pro-am at TPC Scottsdale, where he relished the chance to compete at the legendary 16th Hole.
On his podcast New Heights, Kelce described the experience as a dream come true. “There are unbelievable courses all over the world, but if I could ever get a shot at the 16th hole at Waste Management, I can’t pass that up. This is the mecca. This is like reaching the Super Bowl of the golf world, and it didn’t disappoint.”
Kelce admitted that his fiancée Taylor Swift doesn’t share his enthusiasm for golf and needed some context. He explained why the 16th Hole is so iconic, telling her: “No, sweetie. I have to go. I’m sorry. I have to do this.”
Known for its raucous atmosphere, the 16th Hole is one of the most famous in golf, with fans cheering loudly and creating a stadium-like environment. Kelce said the crowd energy lived up to the hype: “The Waste Management crowd is so lit and so excited and so there for those moments that it didn’t disappoint. It was so much fun.”
Although Swift didn’t attend the event, commentators made sure her name was part of the moment. Golf Channel’s Eamon Lynch joked, “I think Taylor Swift is going to write a song about that one,” as Kelce soaked in the cheers.
Fans later noticed that Swift liked a post about Kelce’s golf outing, signaling her support despite not being there in person.
Kelce’s golf appearance adds another viral chapter to his off-field life, blending sports and pop culture through his relationship with Swift. With the NFL offseason approaching, fans may see more of Kelce’s golf passion on display—possibly with Swift cheering him on from the sidelines in future events.
