Tyler Perry Denies Sexual Assault Allegations, Calls Lawsuit a “Money Grab”

Tyler Perry has formally denied sexual assault allegations brought against him, describing a $77 million lawsuit filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court as a baseless attempt to secure money.

Court Response

In newly filed documents, Perry rejected “each and every allegation” made by accuser Mario Rodriguez. His legal team argued that the complaint fails to establish valid legal claims, that Rodriguez did not suffer damages, and that any alleged contact was consensual.

The response went further, alleging that the lawsuit was fabricated after Perry stopped providing Rodriguez with financial assistance. According to the filing, Rodriguez had a “very minor role” in one Perry film nearly a decade ago and later requested help covering housing, medical services, and unpaid bills.

Allegations Against Perry

Rodriguez’s lawsuit, first obtained by People magazine, claims that Perry sexually assaulted him and made unwanted advances while promising acting opportunities. Rodriguez alleges he first connected with Perry in 2015 after a gym trainer introduced them.

The lawsuit accuses Perry of using his influence to manipulate Rodriguez, while dangling potential acting roles as leverage. Perry, however, has strongly denied these claims, calling them falsehoods “that have no basis in fact or law and no merit,” according to court papers obtained by TMZ.

Perry’s Position

Perry’s attorneys are seeking to move the case to federal court, arguing that the lawsuit is not only unfounded but also financially motivated. They maintain that Rodriguez’s accusations are part of a “money grab” designed to exploit Perry’s wealth and success.

The billionaire filmmaker, best known for creating and starring in the 13-film Madea franchise, has built a media empire through Tyler Perry Studios. His team insists that Rodriguez’s claims are fabricated and that the lawsuit lacks credibility.

Industry Impact

The case has drawn significant attention due to Perry’s prominence in Hollywood. As one of the most influential figures in entertainment, Perry’s denial and aggressive legal response underscore the seriousness with which he is contesting the allegations.

While the lawsuit unfolds, Perry continues to deny all claims and emphasize that his accuser’s allegations are without merit. The outcome of the case will likely be closely watched, given Perry’s stature in the industry and the scale of the financial damages sought.
