Brazilian lifestyle influencer Yasmim Ângela Feitosa de Souza has died at age 26, just two days after celebrating her birthday with friends in Petrolina, Brazil.
According to local reports, she became ill after consuming alcohol during the celebration and passed away on November 12, 2025.
The incident has shocked her 23,000 Instagram followers and raised questions after officials cited suspected menthol poisoning as the cause of death.
Authorities are currently investigating the source of the contaminated drink.
According to Brazil’s g1 news outlet, Yasmim Ângela fell ill after drinking whisky with two friends on November 10, during her birthday celebration.
Her mother reported that Yasmim appeared healthy throughout the day — shopping, eating lunch out, and spending time with family — before suddenly becoming unwell later that night.
She passed away at home two days later.
The University Hospital of Univasf confirmed that a patient matching her description was admitted with symptoms of menthol poisoning, which has been linked to several recent cases in the region.
Authorities have taken samples from the whisky bottle she consumed for toxicological analysis.
In a statement to g1, Yasmim’s mother shared the painful details:
“My daughter was happy all day, playing with everyone,” she said. “At night she started feeling unwell, and then I couldn’t save my daughter.”
Fans flooded her social media pages with messages of grief and disbelief.
One follower wrote, “I can’t believe this. She was so full of life just days ago.”
Yasmim Ângela was widely known for sharing lifestyle and fashion content on Instagram, often featuring moments with her boyfriend and friends.
Her last post, dated November 5, showed a lighthearted message exchange with her partner, which now serves as her final social media update.
She amassed over 23,000 followers, admired for her humor, style, and positivity.
Her funeral is scheduled for November 13 at a local cemetery near her home in Petrolina.
Local authorities continue to investigate the source of the suspected menthol contamination, with toxicology results expected later this week.
Health officials have issued warnings about counterfeit alcohol circulating in northeastern Brazil.
