Jill Zarin Fired From ‘Real Housewives’ Reboot Before Premiere

Jill Zarin, one of the original stars of The Real Housewives of New York City, has been dropped from E!’s upcoming reboot The Golden Life before the show even airs.

Controversial Comments Spark Backlash

The decision follows backlash over comments Zarin made about Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl halftime performance. In a since-deleted Instagram video, she called the reggaeton star’s set “the worst halftime show ever” and criticized his choice to sing primarily in Spanish. She also complained that there were “no white people” in the performance, remarks that drew swift criticism online.

Zarin added that she believed the NFL had “sold out” and suggested the show was a political statement against Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Critics, however, described the performance as a tribute to Puerto Rico and its cultural influence in New York.

Production Company Responds

Blink49 Studios, which produces The Golden Life, confirmed Zarin’s firing in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter.

“In light of recent public comments made by Jill Zarin, Blink49 Studios has decided not to move forward with her involvement in The Golden Life. We remain committed to delivering the series in line with our company standards and values,” the company said.

USA TODAY reported that both Zarin and Blink49 have been contacted for further comment.

About The Golden Life

The new series is designed as a revamp of RHONY and will feature several familiar faces, including Ramona Singer, Luann de Lesseps, Sonja Morgan, and Kelly Bensimon. The show will follow the women as they relocate from New York to Palm Beach, Florida, bringing their signature drama, friendships, and rivalries to a new setting. The reboot aims to capture the essence of the original franchise while introducing fresh storylines. However, Zarin’s departure marks a significant shake-up before the series has even premiered.

Zarin’s History With the Franchise

Zarin was a central figure in the early seasons of RHONY, known for her outspoken personality and memorable feuds. Her return to the reboot was expected to generate buzz among longtime fans. Instead, her controversial remarks have overshadowed the launch of The Golden Life. With the cast now finalized without Zarin, E! and Blink49 Studios are moving forward, hoping to deliver a series that resonates with audiences while avoiding further controversy.
