With Alyssa Farah Griffin on maternity leave, Chrisley Knows Best star Savannah Chrisley temporarily joined The View as the conservative voice at the table. The experience, she admitted, was not what she expected.
On the show’s Behind the Table podcast, Chrisley confessed she had preconceived notions about her co-hosts. “I thought Whoopi and Joy were going to be a pain in my ass and just these mean women. And I was wrong,” she said. “It goes to show: stop judging.”
Joy Behar, in particular, surprised Chrisley with her humor and curiosity. Off camera, the two bonded over candid conversations. Chrisley recalled Behar jokingly asking about her parents’ prison sentences, referencing her past comments calling them “tax cheats.” Chrisley laughed it off, noting Behar’s tendency to forget details quickly.
Chrisley also shared her interactions with co-host Sunny Hostin, a former federal prosecutor. Their first day together was “a little iffy,” with Hostin questioning the legal case against Chrisley’s parents. Chrisley defended her family, citing alleged violations during the trial.
Despite the tension, the two later had a more constructive conversation off camera. Chrisley admitted she may have come across as defensive, explaining, “It’s obviously my family and I’m always going to defend them.”
Chrisley’s candid reflections highlight the challenges of stepping into a politically charged talk show. While she anticipated hostility, she instead found moments of connection and humor with her co-hosts. Her experience underscores the importance of keeping an open mind and resisting assumptions.
