Spider-Man: Brand New Day is already shaping up to be one of the most talked-about Marvel films in years—and it’s not just because Tom Holland is back in the suit. The buzz right now? A long-awaited villain is stepping into the spotlight: Tombstone.
According to a report from Deadline, Marvin Jones III has officially been cast as Tombstone in the upcoming film. Marvel fans will recognize Jones as the voice behind the character in Into the Spider-Verse and the upcoming Beyond the Spider-Verse. Now, he’s bringing the crime boss to life in the MCU’s live-action universe.
While Marvel hasn’t revealed how big Tombstone’s role will be, speculation is swirling. Some insiders believe he’ll serve as a secondary antagonist—possibly working under another rumored villain, Mister Negative. But for now, Marvel is keeping those details tightly under wraps.
Who is Tombstone? First introduced in Web of Spider-Man #36 (1988), Tombstone—real name Lonnie Lincoln—is a fearsome enforcer turned crime boss. After exposure to a chemical called Diox-3, he gained near-invulnerable skin and superhuman strength. He’s been a thorn in Spider-Man’s side ever since.
Despite his comic book legacy, Tombstone hasn’t had much screen time. He appeared briefly in Into the Spider-Verse and had a larger role in the animated Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man. But Brand New Day marks his first major live-action appearance—and fans are hyped.
With filming underway and a teaser expected soon, Spider-Man: Brand New Day is building serious momentum. Between returning heroes and fresh villains, the next chapter of Peter Parker’s story is looking darker, grittier, and more unpredictable than ever.
